How to Take a Screenshot With Snipping Tool

In the previous column, I've told you that "How to Take a Screenshot on a PC". Here I am going to show you how snipping tool works in order to capture screenshot. This is all about computer tricks and tips that usually people want to know. Before moving forward, you should have an idea of screenshot program which we are going to use today.

Screenshot Program - Snipping Tool:

Snipping tool is an app use to take screenshot plus it has built-in capability to edit captured scene within itself. It also enables you to save the edited screenshot as JPEG, GIF or PNG for future use. I would like to share that snipping tool is provided by Microsoft Corp in Windows 7 & Vista by default.

Snipping Tool For XP:

It is true that Windows 7 has brought tremendous apps and features therefore if you meet with Windows 7 requirements you should go for it immediately. Here, I am not mortifying Windows XP users. The importance of Windows XP can't be neglected for that reason people still need to boot Windows XP while using Windows 7.
But if you still use Windows XP, you can have snipping tool feature in Windows XP as well.

How to Take a Screen Shot:

Since, I use Windows 7 but I've personally downloaded the above snipping tool for Windows XP on my PC. It is very close and similar to built-in snipping tool as in Windows 7 & Vista.

STEP 1:
Go to Start Menu and type "Snipping Tool" in the search field and hit enter.
OR
Go to Start Menu → All Programs → Accessories → Snipping Tool

STEP 2:
Snipping tool will appear on your desktop within few seconds. Now there are two main buttons on it.
One of NEW & second of OPTIONS. There will be a small down arrow shaped button next to NEW which enables you to select snipping criteria. Lets suppose you want to take screenshot of entire window then how to do so?

STEP 3:
Select "Window Snip " from the menu and then click over the window for which you want to take a screenshot.

STEP 4:
There is no need to cut and paste in snipping tool. Once, you're done with selecting window, instantly you will see the captured screenshot on Snipping tool platform.

STEP 5:
Make necessary editing, like highlighting, use pen to point out important points, etc and save the edited image as per requirement.
You can directly send the captured screenshot via "Mail" button located at the top.
